Gargoyles are carved figures seen on old building, especially in Gothic architecture such as churches, museums, etc, designed to convey water away from the roof and the side of the building.  Despite their frightening appearance, Gargoyles are considered guardians who are known to protect what they guard such as a building or person from evil spirits, energy etc.
